Problem:

Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (a USDA initiative) needed to move from a completely paper based grant proposal submission and review system to a completely Web based system. Southern SARE serviced multiple, diverse grant programs, with different submission criteria, review protocols and deadlines. Southern SARE needed to be able to manage the reviewer pool, changing deadline dates for various grant programs, and yearly changes to submission criteria.

Solution:

CIIDS developed the Southern SARE Online Proposal System, which allows individuals to create accounts and submit proposals to any one of 8 Southern SARE grants. Reviewers are able to seamlessly navigate between various grant programs for the review, and comment on each grant under review. Administrators are able to assign reviewers and manage deadlines for each grant. As proposal submission criteria changes each year, CIIDS manages the changes for Southern SARE.
